Local law school sees increase in demand for its graduates
A little over 93% of Wayne State University Law School 2021 graduates were placed in long-term, full-time bar passage required or J.D. advantage positions.
The Wayne Law class of 2021 had a 7.7% increase in the employment rate compared to the Wayne Law class of 2020 which had an employment rate of 85.9%.
For 2021 graduates, Wayne Law was in the top 20 of all U.S. law schools in employment outcomes. The analysis is based on the number of graduates from each ABA accredited law school working in full-time, long-term jobs for which bar admission is required or a J.D. is an advantage divided by the total number of graduates from each school.
According to the American Bar Association, “For the class of 2021, the aggregated school data shows that 29,624 or 83% of the 2021 graduates of the 196 law schools enrolling students and approved by the ABA to offer the J.D. degree were employed in full-time, long-term Bar Passage Required or J.D. Advantage jobs roughly 10 months after graduation.”

Senators applaud nomination of Behm to federal judgeship
U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters on Wednesday applauded President Biden’s nomination of Judge F. Kay Behm as the U.S. District Court Judge to the Eastern District of Michigan.
“Judge Behm has been a thoughtful public servant throughout Genesee County at the 7th Circuit Court,” said Stabenow.
“Judge Behm is a highly-qualified jurist whose extensive legal experience and dedication to public service will serve our state and nation well,” said Peters.
Behm has served as a judge for the Genesee County Circuit and Probate Courts since 2009. She was previously a solo practitioner from 2008 to 2009. From 1997 to 2008, Behm was an associate at Winegarden, Haley, Lindholm, & Robertson in Flint and an associate at Braun, Kendrick, Finbeiner in Saginaw from 1994 to 1997. Behm received her law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1994 and her B.A. from Albion College in 1991.
